This is Jen Rizzo.
She remodeled her kitchen for $12,000.00 a few years ago and lived to tell her tale. Like so many stories I’ve heard, she had a water failure in her kitchen. In this case, a water pipe burst. The flooring was damaged and the walls. With only so much money to spend, she had to improvise, do a little DIY, and make alternative choices when her first products were out of the budget. And like all remodels, there was some stress and teeth-gnashing (well, she never said so, but I’ve been there. My teeth did indeed gnash!)

When budgets are tight — and they always are when you’re forced to remodel the kitchen instead of plan for them — one has to get creative, and come up with alternate solutions. Selecting eco-friendly products can be especially challenging as many of them aren’t price friendly; however, there are some out there. It just becomes a difficult lesson in choices and creativity. If you’re willing to do some of the work yourself, and look at the pros and cons of all choices, there is a way to transform your room.

Over at her website, Jen has the story of her decisions and choices, and a whole bunch of photos to see. (She has some other really lovely photos of the after that I didn’t post here in order to tempt you.) I think she did a fine job; don’t you?
