A small taste of Milan Design Week 2014

I have returned from Milan with over 700 photos and an awful head cold, so the long posts will have to wait.

SALONE MOBILE, DESIGN FAIR, MILANO, COSMIT, FIERA, BLANCO America, BLANCO Design Council

Truly a world class show – this is one of the hundreds of TV cameras (on right) that I saw at the show. Salone del Mobile Milano translates into “Milan Furniture Fair”. Eurocucina (European Kitchen) is one part of it.

First impressions of the show:

Inspiring

SALONE MOBILE, DESIGN FAIR, MILANO, COSMIT, FIERA, Minnacio10, BLANCO America, BLANCO Design Council

At the European shows, there are plenty of seating spaces designed both to be admired and to take in views of the surroundings. Some offer coffee and sweets, but the idea of sitting down is wonderful after wandering 4000 miles throughout the show (Mileage may be exaggerated slightly but not by much.) This is from my favorite booth, Minaccio10.

Elegant

Display from French range manufacturer La Cornue

Whimsical

SALONE MOBILE, DESIGN FAIR, MILANO, COSMIT, FIERA, Smeg, BLANCO America, BLANCO Design Council

Display entrance from refrigeration company, Smeg. The wall of jasmine wafted scent throughout the show and the Fiats colors are a nod to the Italian flag.  Can you guess what’s inside the Fiats? Wine refrigeration, of course!

I’ll take two, please.

Milan truly is all about design. This show, the Salone del Mobile 2014 is laid out to inspire and innovate and just be…for no other reason than for beauty and discussion.

I would like to thank BLANCO for their hospitality in enabling me and other Design Council members to chance to see this show; it truly was an amazing experience and they worked very hard to give us the best of the experience. I am looking forward to showing all of you what I saw…if I can stop sneezing first.

Until next time,

Kelly Morisseau
